Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
This policy explains what data BirdyLingo collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using BirdyLingo you agree to this policy.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, and password (stored hashed).
- Learning data: your progress, streak, daily activity, and which birds you've practiced — needed to run the app.
- Subscription data: plan, status, and billing identifiers if you subscribe to Premium. Payment details are handled by our payment processor; we never see your card number.
- Technical data: basic device and browser information, IP address, and crash logs to keep the Service running.
How we use it
- To provide and improve the BirdyLingo learning experience.
- To personalize lessons (e.g., spaced-repetition scheduling).
- To process subscriptions and send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, account notifications).
- To detect abuse and keep the Service secure.
We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
We share only what's necessary to operate the Service:
- Hosting and database providers that store your data on our behalf.
- Our payment processor (for subscriptions).
- Email delivery providers (for transactional emails).
- Authorities, if required by law.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and local storage that are necessary to keep you signed in. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Your rights
You can update your display name and learning preferences in your profile. You can request a copy of your data or delete your account by emailing support@birdlingo.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under GDPR, the UK GDPR, or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or restrict processing of your data.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (for example, payment records).
Children
BirdyLingo is not intended for children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app.
